NEWSBREAK: My next book, Captain Thunderbolt and his Lady: the true story of bushrangers Frederick Ward and Mary Ann Bugg, is now available in bookstores (or can be ordered if they don't have a copy). The book is narrative non-fiction, as are my other popular histories, and tells the true story of Frederick Ward, the "gentleman bushranger", and his lover, Mary Ann Bugg, who helped keep him safe from the troopers sent out to capture or kill him. Two intriguing characters, a fascinating true story - every authors dream!! This time I have included all the back-up documentation on my Thunderbolt website: www.thunderboltbushranger.com.au. But don't read the back-up documentation and analyses of the evidence until after you have read my book. It will spoil all your fun!! Truly.
For 25 years I have worked in the family history industry and I will be offering guidance through my blog: Family Tree Tips. I am also using Family Tree Tips as the imprint name for a new series of genealogy "How To" books. The first was published in September 2009 and is titled Writing INTERESTING Family Histories. Read snippets from Reviews offering praise for this publication. With copies flying out the door, a Second Edition was published in 2010 and contains considerably more information. More "how to" books are in the pipeline -- when I have time to write them! I will keep you posted through my Blog. I also write popular history/true historical crime published by Allen & Unwin, one of Australia's top publishers (and an Australian-owned company as well). My website includes the blurb, prologue and reviews for my first two works: An Irresistible Temptation and Breaking the Bank. For information about my third book, go to my Thunderbolt website: www.thunderboltbushranger.com.au. An Irresistible Temptation: the true story of Jane New and a colonial scandal
Breaking the Bank: An extraordinary colonial robbery I have another book in the pipeline. Caught by the Wires is also true crime and tells the story of a murder that kick-started the Communication Revolution. But there's more. I am the General Editor for an exciting Australian genealogical project, Biographical Database of Australia (BDA), which goes on-line in 2012. I will keep you posted with our progress through my Blog. In March 2011, I was appointed to the role of adjunct lecturer at the University of New England. This will be officially announced later in the year, perhaps in conjunction with the publication of Captain Thunderbolt and his Lady. I give talks and seminars, although I have had to turn down many recent requests because of my busy schedule. I will provide details of some of the talks on my Talks page. Contact me if you would like me to speak to your group. You can e-mail me through my Contact page, which also provides details of my literary agency and publisher. My books can be purchased through the Orders page via Paypal or cheque. Enjoy.
